From Burnout to Breakthrough: My Journey to Aligning Business with Spirit

Hi, I’m Kirsten, and for over 30 years, I’ve been in the beauty and wellness industry—first as an esthetician, then as a spa owner, and now as a coach. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had my share of challenges. Those experiences have shaped how I help beauty and wellness business owners today by combining practical business strategies with spiritual insights that transformed my own life.

But building a beauty business wasn't always easy for me.

When I first started in the beauty & wellness world, things seemed to move quickly. After renting an esthetics room in a hair salon for a year, I hired my first staff member and within two years, we were fully booked and moving into a larger spa. It all felt like success—but behind the scenes, it was a completely different story.

It was growth on the surface, but chaos behind the scenes.

The Ugly Side of My Spa Business...

I had no clear financial plan, and the overwhelming expenses and responsibilities were crushing. I could barely make payroll, couldn’t afford to pay myself, and my team wasn’t working together the way I needed them to. I was exhausted and felt like my business was sinking, but I didn’t know how to fix it.

This all happened while I was navigating big personal milestones—getting married, having a baby, and trying to balance it all. I had to make some tough decisions, including selling my business. But on paper, it was worthless, and that was a huge wake-up call. I realized I needed to get serious about learning how to run a profitable spa.

Turning Things Around: Systems as Self-Care

I dove into salon & spa-specific business training, working long hours to restructure and reorganize my business. It was a difficult six months, but I was determined to make it work—for my family, for my own sanity, and for my future. And I turned it around!

By the end of that year, my spa was profitable, my team was in sync, and I could finally breathe. I was paying myself regularly, my vendors were happy, and we had created an environment where our clients felt truly nurtured. It was a relief to have time to focus on my big-picture goals rather than constantly putting out fires.

That experience changed the way I looked at business. Systems became my superpower, and I realized that having those systems in place was the ultimate form of self-care for a business owner. I eventually sold that spa for a profit and started my next chapter: helping other beauty and wellness entrepreneurs avoid the same mistakes I had made.

Transitioning to Coaching to Help Beauty & Wellness Owners Thrive

In 2015, I retired from hands-on esthetics to focus full-time on coaching spa owners across North America. My goal was simple: to help them build profitable, sustainable businesses while also taking care of themselves. Systems were at the heart of it, allowing owners to step back, breathe, and enjoy the freedom they craved.

At the same time, I remarried and welcomed a blended family into my home—teenagers and all! Running a home-based esthetics studio gave me the flexibility I needed to balance family life and work. Everything felt aligned, both personally and professionally.

Finding Healing Through Numerology When Life Took A Turn

Then in 2020, my world was turned upside down. My son was in a near-fatal car accident, and the trauma of that event, combined with two family deaths and the challenges of COVID lockdown, was overwhelming. Just six months later, my husband had a heart attack. I was suddenly a full-time caregiver again, and I was burnt out beyond words.

Soon after, a painful friendship breakup added to the emotional load, and I hit a wall. At the anniversary of my son’s accident, I experienced a severe PTSD flare-up, and for months, I couldn’t find my way out of that dark place.

It wasn’t until January 2022 that I found my healing through an unexpected source—numerology. I started using the energies of the days and months to guide me through my healing and shadow work. This was about more than numbers—it was about reconnecting with my inner self, my Divine Spirit Team, and the spiritual insights I had once embraced but had lost along the way.

Blending Business Strategy with Spiritual Insights

By January 2023, I had emerged from that dark period with a renewed sense of purpose. My journey with numerology had been transformative, and I knew I wanted to bring these insights into my coaching. When I became a certified numerologist, it felt like the perfect next step.

What I love about numerology is how it blends both the quantiative and energetic aspects of numbers. It’s not just about understanding your numbers or KPI's on a practical level—it’s about recognizing the energy they carry and how that energy can guide us in understanding ourselves and our business potential more fully.

Numbers are like energetic codes that help align decisions, attract the right clients, and uncover hidden strengths.

Once I started integrating these insights into my business, I saw powerful results, and I knew I had to share this approach with other beauty and wellness entrepreneurs.
